When did you start playing
music?
My grandmother got me started playing music at a young age. I was always
constantly around music at home, my mom always played some Mo'town. You
know, like the Platters, Marvin Gaye and then some old school like Perry
Como, Louie Armstrong. We would usually get around to playing some
Foreigner, Boston and even The Beatles.
I usually around a big mix at home.
When did you realize you wanted to be a singer?
Well, I grew up at the beginning of an era of some really great rock
bands. I was in my living room one summer day, usually home by my self so
I would watch my MTV. I turned on the TV and I caught the end of some
commentary about this new band and then they played the video. I watched
one of coolest video's and heard this new sound and it was Alice in
Chains. It kinda scared me at first, no kidding the video was just weird
to me but it was a bad ass song, Man in the Box it just pulled me in and
that's when I realized I wanted to be a singer.
...about this new album?
I am pretty stoked. It's is the best music we've have written to date. I
love the concept of the album, the artwork is really cool. It's
Downshallow in a room. We hit record and this album is what came out. We
recorded a lot of drums tracks for this album, some songs didn't make the
cut and that is the hardest thing to do because the material is just good.
So you may see those in the future as well.
If you're not playing music, then what?
Well, I like to do a numbers of things but I love to cook at home. It's
like therapy for me. I get to create something and then I get to eat it.
Its like playing music. You create. I love doing the kitchen thing.
