THE NEW FASHION - Press release
"The New Fashion" marks Downshallow's return to the full length album format since their debut album, 2005's "So Many Wants, So Little Compromise". After experimenting with acoustic goodness on their "Good Friend Electric" (EP), the band returns to their brand of loud rock n roll that began in late 2000.

The lyrical sub-context of the record chronicles the rise and fall of celebrity stardom and their dealings with the harsh pressures of media scrutiny and paparazzi-infested reality. Musically, the band has carefully crafted a fine mix of punchy rock and dynamic vastness that has never been present in any of Downshallow's previous works.

Produced by guitarist Rob Ferreira and longtime studio accomplice, Charlie Park, The New Fashion displays the work of a band that has come into their own, creating a fresh sound for themselves, but all the while still sounding very much like Downshallow...a perfect bookend to cap off a 10 year musical career.

Downshallow would like to thank everyone who has supported us over the years!

Last night, (or early this morning) marked the farewell of Downshallow. After 10 years of rock n roll, we played our final rock show at McKeages Tavern in West Milford, NJ. Words cannot express the high level of emotion we felt last night... from the awesome 15 song set spanning our 10 years to the reunion of our early lineup, as our buddy & original bassist, Ant Salcedo joined us for two songs.  Thank you all for your incredible support over the years. Thank you to all our fans, family and friends that helped make last night one for the ages. It was incredible to see so many of you come down to say good bye in person. We leave behind 2 full length albums as well as 2 EPs and only hope you've enjoyed listening to our music as much as we've loved creating it. It's been an unforgettable journey chock full of amazing memories that have shaped all our lives.

For those interested in our new album "The New Fashion", it is set to be released this coming week on iTunes and other online retailers. As always, you can find out all the latest right here on www.downshallow.com

Dear fans, family & friends,
It’s with a heavy heart that I inform you that my time with Downshallow is coming to a close. It’s been one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make, rightfully so: ten years is a long time. But all things run their course.

In the next few weeks, we have two shows which will be our last. And I’m psyched to be able to use those as a “good bye” of sorts. And as planned, our second full length record, “The New Fashion”, will be released next month. There’s some really good music on there that we’re all very proud of and I certainly feel it deserves to be heard. As for everything else that’s left in the “vault”, I don’t know if there’s a place for that right now. We’ll just have to see.

It’s been an amazing experience playing the music I love to play with a great bunch of friends. We’ve had a blast meeting the people we’ve met and your support is very much appreciated. Seriously, you’ve made an incredible difference over the years, as we’ve plugged our way through a tough time in the local rock scene.

Downshallow… what it represents and the music we’ve written is very dear part of my heart. I hope our music has made even the slightest difference in your life. Believe me, it’s impacted mine. As for Alex, Darren and Justin, I wish them well. I’ll miss rockin’ out, but I also look forward to the future.
-Rob

Tonight's scheduled show at the Cup in Linden, NJ has been canceled due to the weather. No make up date has yet been scheduled, but hopefully, we will have something lined up at the Cup again soon. If you were planning on making it down to the show, we hope this reaches you with plenty of notice.

We have a handful of shows booked through May of this year and we're psyched to hit the road after a long extensive period away. We have some fun stuff planned for these shows, including some brand new tunes, a video webcast and of course our new album is all mixed and being mastered.
We simply have good rock shows with some quality bands on the bill. I will add that if you've been a fan of the band, I invite you to come down and check out some of these shows, starting with this Friday night at the Cup.

The album is mixed. Twelve songs complete. Now some mastering and then the rest. Our predicted release date of December is still doable, albeit unlikely. Hopefully it's worth the wait. We'll keep you posted on more as we get near. Thanks.

Welcome to the re-launch of Downshallow.com. We've been super busy in the studio the last year working on our new album, The New Fashion, due this fall. Right now all the finishing touches are being put on, as we finalize album artwork, final masters, duplication, etc. We're super proud of this collection of songs and there's a lot more where this came from. Owning our own studio has given us the flexibility to lay down tracks to many songs, both old and new, which should see the light of day sooner or later. We hope you enjoy the record when it hits, but in the meantime, scope out the website, filled with all sorts of goodies.

July 29, 2009 - ...in the studio...

So we've begun hitting the road to debut some of this new material live and we are ALMOST just about done mixing. BUT.... Alex & I recently wrote a new song, and I'd be lying if I told you that I'm not going to fight, tooth & nail, to try to get it on the album. It's what I do. So basically, we should track in the next week or so.
I'm pretty sure this shouldn't hold the album up any longer though. We are finishing up the mixes on the last couple of tracks. We are working on 'What You've Become' as I type this and then we got a ditty working title: "Subway Vampire".
And then that's it...oh except for the new tune. So we'll see.
In the meantime, for more up to the minute updates, follow downshallow on twitter.
See ya soon.

May 27, 2009 - We've been MIA all year...
...so we are hitting the road again...after a long time away. Recording this album has taken a better part of the last year or so and we've been MIA for way too long. So as we finish mixing the album, we'd figure we'd take some of the new songs out, as well as some of the oldies that we love playing and hit the road.
Right now we have a couple of shows booked and a few pending, but we hope to run straight through the album release later in the year.
As of this post, you can catch us at The Crossroads (Garwood, NJ) on 6/25/09 and The Cup (Linden, NJ) on 7/24/09. Check out the various Downshallow pages online or website (http://www.downshallow.com) for all the latest info, live or otherwise.
We'll also be sharing a new song with you very soon. We simply want to get a little closer to the final thing.
I hope you all can make it down to the shows and say hello.
and if you haven't already, won't you follow us on Twitter, Facebook and/or Myspace (yes we still use it).
Thanks and hope to see you soon.

The mixes are beginning to drizzle in.
We got a handful practically listen-ready and the others continue to be magically transformed from raw rough mixes to the polish and shine that Charlie "Marley" Park, so beautifully molds.
We've decided that we will probably hit the road to get the rust off, before the album hits. It will give us some time to put the finishing touches on the as of yet untitled record.
Speaking of which, we've had a handful of titles thrown around in our little circle, but nothing has been set. If anyone has any bright ideas feel free to share via Twitter, Facebook or whatever else is the networking flavor of the week.

March 10, 2009 - ...in the studio...
Another update. Where do I start?
Well, we're just about to enter the mixing stage on these new songs. We just have a couple of little things to record...a couple of vocal harmonies here, a guitar solo there...it's (not so) funny how 2 weeks turns into 6 months sometimes.
Over the last month or so, we've been at it, and added a new song, (working title "New Song") to the project. That track should make the album.
And for those acquainted with the very early days of Downshallow...a, long, long time ago there were 2...guitars. I used to share guitar duties with our buddy, V. Anyway, we decided to bring him back on a track for this new album to record a blazing guitar solo.
What's taking so long? I've asked myself that question, over and over again. And I haven't yet quite figured out the definitive answer other than perhaps we tried to tackle too much for our own good?...recording 20+ songs, writing new ones and feeling the need to include those in the record, swapping the final track list, back & forth and even considering to scale back the album and release an EP instead (I'm glad that idea didn't flourish).
This record has taken a good portion of the last year and although it's not quite there yet, it's something that we're all proud of. Having manned the controls on this one myself along (for the first time) with the help of our partner in recording crime, Charlie "Marley" Park, I especially would like to get this into the hands of all of you that are waiting.
We're hoping to have something tangible in the next few months, hopefully by spring's end...but no promises, until we are closer to the date.
Alex is getting hitched in a few months, so we know that he has other things going on that he needs to tend to. In the meantime, we get ever so close to the end of the tunnel.

February 4, 2009 - ...in the studio...
More and more mixing is being done, while we've played with the tracklisting a little bit. Gone is one song and just on board is another. But we've also got some friends on this record...just people that we've crossed paths with over the years that we enjoy...to lay down their little contributions to a song here and there. It's something we always wanted to do, so while it won't be a hip-hop styled "featuring so & so" on every other song, there will be some jams with a guest or two.
That's all for now.

November 29, 2008 - ...in the studio...
How was everyone's turkey?
So here we are approaching the last month of the year...still recording...but we've also begun mixing some tracks. And so far, it sounds incredible, if I do say so myself.
What else? Well, we've narrowed down the selection of songs to about 10 or 11. But the album still remains untitled, waiting to see and hear what the big picture looks and sounds like.
On the live side of things, I can say that we honestly have nothing lined up, as of today, to end off the year. And we realize that this year has been very quiet as far as shows go, but hopefully when the album comes out, you'll hear why this took the greater part of the year to record. {insert Chinese Democracy joke here}
Hopefully we'll have something in store for you soon. We'll keep you posted.

October 1, 2008 - ...in the studio...
...we haven't been sleeping on the job, but it has been months since we've last updated you all with the status of our album...sorry about that...We are more than half way there, recording...and, of course, then it will be mixed shortly thereafter...
We realize that 'out of sight' most likely means 'out of mind', but we really feel strongly about not breaking out of our recording mindframe to come out to play some shows, despite how much live-show-withdrawal we are going through...
BUT, we are doing something special this month...an acoustic performance webcast through blowupradio.com benefitting the Spondylitis Association of America.
Our performance along with many others will be webcast on Oct 17th thru 19th on blowupradio.com.
Between now and then (and probably the weeks following), we will continue to work towards releasing this album (which we honestly foresee having out sometime early spring next year). Hopefully you'll get a chance to hear something before then. And here's to crossing our fingers as we hope to maybe see you all at a live show sometime before THIS year fades into 2009.
Thanks for waiting on us. And we promise we won't let another 2 months go by silently.
Are those TOO MANY promises? hopefully not.

July 15, 2008 - ...in the studio...
Checkin' in from the studio. We've tallied 21 songs and have recorded bass tracks on a couple. Unlike we've done in the past, where we've worked on all the songs at one time, we are going to see each song through to the end before moving on to the next one this time around, save for the drums. So, I'm up next.
-rob

June 20, 2008 - ...in the studio...
The songlist continues to grow... drum tracks are still in session...

May 30, 2008 -

So we're at it again. The new album has begun and just like 'Control Alt Delete' we're recording this ourselves in our "Home Sweet Studios" or so I call it. We didn't have the luxury of endless studio time back when we were on the clock, paying by the hour. But now with our own place, we have the opportunity for more recording and have even revisited some older material that we just never gave its proper due.
We've started tracking drums. Justin's been going at it hard and we have about 10 or so in the bag right now. We have some titles like 'Ashes', 'Back To Life' & 'Break The Frequency', but also some working titles to be named later.
At this point, it's a little early to tell what is going to be on the album or when its release is expected (hopefully by year's end). But we're really proud of our past releases and we're working diligently to make our second full length album even better.
That's it for now.
